Frequently Asked Questions

What is a podiatrist?

A podiatrist is a university-qualified healthcare professional who is registered with AHPRA who can diagnose and treat foot and lower limb conditions.

These conditions include musculoskeletal injuries, nail problems, skin conditions, sporting injuries, arthritis, pediatric foot problems, the effects of chronic disease on the lower limb. They can assess any problem relating to the lower limb.

What can I expect at the first consultation?

At Bondi Podiatry we give longer appointments for the first appointment in our Bondi Junction podiatry clinic. This is plenty of time for your podiatrist to thoroughly examine your problem, consider your needs and provide an appropriate treatment plan. We aim to develop a comprehensive plan to achieve your personal goals for your foot health.

Do you treat children's feet?

Our Bondi Junction podiatrist can treat children and adults. Podiatrists treat children of all ages with lower limb concerns. Your podiatrist should be trained to treat pediatric conditions, conduct biomechanical assessments and give footwear advice. Children's feet are different from adults and they, therefore, experience different foot problems.

Do I need to ask my doctor for an X-ray or ultrasound if I think I need one?

A podiatrist can request an X-ray or ultrasound if further investigation is required. Podiatrists at Bondi Podiatry in Bondi Junction may refer you to our preferred local provider in Sydney who can bulk bill scans for our patients. As podiatrists, we are able to order MRI scans of the foot, however, if an MRI is required we will coordinate this with your doctor or medical specialist. This is because the MRI scan may be more affordable if ordered by a medical doctor.
