What are the best exercises for heel pain?

At Bondi Podiatry we often see patients suffering from heel pain. The common causes are plantar fasciopathy (commonly referred to as plantar fasciitis), Achilles tendinopathy (Achilles tendinitis) or even bursitis.

Our expert podiatrists in Bondi Junction can diagnose these conditions for you in our Sydney clinic.

Below are the exercises we commonly recommend for heel pain, particularly plantar fasciopathy. Please note that this is a general guide and a podiatrist can guide you on the right exercise for you.

Exercises:

1. Calf stretch - 10 repeats on each leg, 5-second hold once daily

calf stretch plantar fasciitis

2. Plantar fascia stretch off a step (with a rolled towel under toes) - 20 repeats, 3-5 second hold up and down once daily

3. Theraband ankle mobilization exercises - slowly go through ABC's against resistance once daily

4. Massage ball at the bottom of feet
