10 tips for choosing school shoes
Children spend more than 16,000 hours in their school shoes throughout the year. That is why it so important to choose the right shoes.

Quality shoes last longer, buy better shoes and it should last the year.
Leather may last a bit longer than fabrics, but runners may be more breathable if they are made with a mesh fabric.
Get both feet measured, often one foot is longer than the other.
When considering lace ups or Velcro, consider if your child can fasten their shoes themselves.
The sole should not twist when pressure is applied.
The heel should be held in the back of the shoe when fastened.
The widest part of the foot should correspond with the width of the shoe.
There should be a thumb’s width left at the end of the shoe for appropriate fit.
The shoes should be comfortable for your child. No point buying an expensive pair of shoes your child will not wear.
Children grow quickly and may go up a size in 6 months time. Try and plan your budget to accommodate 2 pairs of shoes within the year of a decent quality.
